Learning Can, And Should, Be Fun
Everybody wants their children to grow up with a good education to establish not only a great career, but also to give them a firm apprehension of the world . And there appears to be this endless battle of taking your minors from their toys or the TV to get them to do their homework. In schools it would seem that the playfulness is withdrawn from studying, so it’s no surprise kids are bored. It doesn’t have to be that way though. Instead of this false dichotomy of playing and learning, it’s far more effective to combine playing and studying and make it a joy to learn.
Youngsters learn much more when they either see a practical function as to why they’re studying something, OR if learning is a whole bunch of fun.
An example: ask the children to think of a birthday cake, and 5 friends. So how much cake should each person get? Ask them to paint the cake, and cut out a slice for each person. They don’t even know they’re learning the concept of fractions.
These days, it’s now realized that once you build the groundwork for a certain subject (for example music), kids are much more likely to take an interest in it later on. If the alternative is to simply make them to go to a class, have them face a blackboard, and then tell them to take heed of the teacher talking, you’re more likely to encourage daydreaming than learning.
What variety of playthings should you buy your youngsters? Nowadays there’s a large array of toys. Always take heed that youngsters enjoy playing with almost anything, even the wrapping paper that hides the Christmas toys! From games for kids to hand-held electronic games, as long as the focus is on studying and encouraging your children to become more inquisitive (which furthers self-learning).
